Mayor Alex Araneta of Nueva Valencia in the “largely untouched” province of Guimaras exuded confidence as he predicted that Nueva Valencia would be the next Boracay.

The mayor’s fearless forecast came after he received a citation award from the Department of Tourism(DOT), citing the town as the best tourism-oriented local government unit (LGU) under the municipal category during the recent Western Visayas Tourism Assembly.

Nueva Valencia owns one of the finest beaches in the Southern Philippines; its pristine blue waters can rival those of Boracay and Palawan.

A mild construction boom of resorts here has been observed in the last three years.

Just fifteen minutes away from Iloilo City, Guimaras’ accessibility as a whole makes it a strong candidate for the next tourist destination of the country.(PNA)
