January 6th, 2009 by Site Administrator

THE province of Guimaras will be very busy with various tourism events this first two quarters of 2009.

Guimaras Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava said preparations will focus on their participation in the annual Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo, the famous “Pagtaltal” during the celebration of the Holy Week and the province’s “Manggahan Festival.”

After hibernating for several years, Nava said the province will again be sending a tribe, Tribu Himal-us, to participate in the Dinagyang slated every fourth week of January.

The governor said the tribe will serve as an effective vehicle in promoting the province not only locally but also in internationally because Dinagyang is known worldwide.

Nava added they will also be busy preparing for the “Pagtaltal” that depicts the suffering of Jesus Christ. The annual event has been drawing thousands of visitors here and abroad.

The province’s “Manggahan” annual festival named after its sweet mangoes is also expected to gather a big crowd as the event is an avenue for visitors to partake of Guimaras’ best products.
