December 22nd, 2007 by Site Administrator

THE DEPARTMENT of Agriculture (DA) recently turned over to the provincial government of Guimaras P23.5 million for the implementation of various livelihood projects identified by victims of the oil spill.

Agriculture Regional Executive Director for Western Visayas Larry Nacionales said the turnover was done simultaneous with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between their office and the Guimaras province represented by Gov. Felipe Nava.

Under the agreement, the provincial government will implement the livelihood projects, especially for the coconut sector.

The projects include swine and goat raising and vegetable gardening.

The projects were identified by the recipients themselves with the assistance of their respective local government unit and the DA. (Philippine News Agency)
